NEW ORLEANS - Today, District "C" Councilmember Nadine Ramsey hosted a press conference recognizing the Edna Karr and Landry-Walker football teams prior to receiving their resolutions at the City Council meeting.
The two teams brought an overwhelming sense of pride and respect to the Algiers community following their LHSAA state championship victories on December 10, 2016.
"These two teams have made the City so proud," said District "C" Councilmember Ramsey. "Their victories are a beacon of hope in these turbulent times."
Councilmember Ramsey gave the opening remarks, followed by Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and representatives from both the Edna Karr and Landry-Walker teams.
Additionally, details of the Algiers Parade of Champions on Saturday, January 14, were announced.
"It's wonderful to have you all here to celebrate your hard-fought achievements," said Councilmember Ramsey. "We welcome all the public to come out to recognize the achievements of these young men at the parade this Saturday. Of course, they could not do it alone and I would be remiss not to thank the parents, the teachers, administrators, staff, the Algiers Charter School Association, Inspire NOLA and all those who helped support these winners!"
The parade will begin at Berkley Dr. and Kabel Dr. and will end at Landry Walker High School.
