NEW ORLEANS - Councilmember Susan
Guidry will be honored at the Alliance for Affordable Energy's
upcoming Lighting the Way Gala.
The Alliance for Affordable Energy advocates on
behalf of utility customers for fair, affordable, environmentally responsible
energy policies. The Alliance works with regulators, city leaders and the
Public Service Commission to assure that people can afford their utility
bills. Their work has saved Louisiana rate payers over four billion

were crucial to the early success of the City Council's award winning Energy
Smart program. She also advocated increasing the program's budget to assist
families and businesses in lowering their energy bills. She cares and

The Energy Smart Program offers energy
efficiency home assessments and efficiency upgrades, and helps to lower energy
demands that can offset the need to build expensive power plants. For more

The event will take place on Thursday,
November 17, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at City Park's Botanical Gardens Pavilion
to Two Sisters. Individual tickets are $100, $175 for couples and $35

Councilmember Guidry is one of five people who
will be honored at the Lighting the Way Gala. Lambert C. Boissiere,
III from the Louisiana Public Service Commission will receive the Groesch Award
for Consumer Champion, Dr. Chuck Brown, Secretary of Louisiana Department of
Environmental Quality, will receive the Groesch Award for Visionary Leader.
Glen F. Post, III, CEO and President of CenturyLink, will receive the Groesch
Award for Business Luminary, and Attorney Tommy Milliner will receive the
Groesch Award for Lifetime Achievement.
